Veteran Nollywood actress Idowu Phillips, popularly known as Mama Rainbow, has marked a major milestone celebrating her 83rd birthday and an incredible 60 years in the entertainment industry.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the Yoruba film legend expressed deep gratitude to God, her family, and fans for their unwavering support throughout her six-decade career.
“Today, I celebrate 83 years of life and 60 unforgettable years on stage! What a journey it has been filled with music, memories, love, and endless gratitude. I thank God Almighty for the gift of life, strength, and purpose,” she wrote.
Mama Rainbow began her acting journey in the 1960s, performing with her late husband’s theatre group. She paid a heartfelt tribute to her son and manager, Femi Phillips, calling him her “pillar and daily joy.”
“To my son, my manager, my baby, and my close friend you are my pillar, my daily joy, and the reason I keep shining. Your dedication keeps my legacy alive,” she said.
She also extended appreciation to her fans, colleagues, and creative team.
“To my family, your love has been my foundation. To my fans, friends, and lovers at home and abroad you are my heartbeat. Your support and prayers have carried me through every season.”

Known for her vibrant portrayals of maternal characters in Yoruba cinema, Mama Rainbow has appeared in hundreds of films and TV productions.
Her notable works include Yemi My Love, Abeni, Oga Bolaji, Sugar Rush, Becoming Abi, Taiwo Taiwo, Madami, Mewa N Sele, The Narrow Path, Lagidigba, Agbefo, and Okun Ife.
Her career has spanned generations, evolving seamlessly from traditional Yoruba theatre to contemporary Nigerian cinema, earning her enduring respect and admiration.
