Former Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been appointed by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to head its Election Observation Mission for Côte d’Ivoire’s upcoming presidential election.
In a statement released in Abuja on Sunday, the ECOWAS Secretariat confirmed the mission will be active from October 19 to 29, aligning with the organization’s protocol on democracy and good governance.
As Head of Mission, Osinbajo will lead a team of distinguished West African figures tasked with engaging national stakeholders and supporting a peaceful, credible electoral process.
The mission will also work in collaboration with other international and domestic observer groups to monitor the conduct of the polls, scheduled for October 25.
This deployment highlights ECOWAS’s continued dedication to promoting democratic stability and transparent elections across the region.
