Reality TV personality and entrepreneur Natasha Akide, widely known as Tacha, has opened up about her decision to stage her Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt for the most makeovers in 24 hours in Nigeria rather than the UK, where it was originally planned.
During a brief break at the Tacha Beauty Festival, currently underway at the John Randle Centre for Yorùbá Culture & History in Lagos, she revealed that although London was the initial location, it ultimately lacked the energy and connection she sought.
In a candid conversation with influencer Egungun, Tacha explained that the UK didn’t give her the “vibe” she needed and that it was important for her to involve her home country in such a significant moment.
She emphasized her desire to spotlight the Nigerian beauty industry on a global platform.
The record attempt, which has been in the works for two years, began Saturday night with a target of 150 makeovers in 24 hours. By early Sunday morning, she had already completed 115 makeovers in just 12 hours, surpassing the existing record of 113.
Tacha described the timing as ideal and the effort as deeply personal, dedicating the feat to her late mother and calling it a testament to her drive and resilience.
Despite minor disruptions in power on Saturday, the sessions remained swift and efficient. Each participant received a full makeover, followed by a professional photo session and a runway showcase as part of the ongoing celebration.
The attempt is a key feature of the three-day Tacha Beauty Festival, which she has positioned as a vibrant tribute to beauty, culture, and determination.
