Despite facing brief technical disruptions, including power outages, reality TV star Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, remains undeterred in her quest to break the Guinness World Record for the most makeovers in 24 hours.

The record attempt is currently underway at the John Randle Centre for Yorùbá Culture & History in Lagos, as part of her ongoing Tacha Beauty Festival.

PUNCH Online observed that the studio experienced two separate power interruptions less than an hour into the session. Though the main venue retained partial power, the outages briefly affected the lighting setup in the makeover area.

To maintain operations, organisers switched to backup camera and LED lights, ensuring visibility while the official timer seemingly powered by an independent source — continued without interruption.

While the incident sparked concern among some onlookers, Tacha remained composed and focused, pushing forward with the challenge. Made-up models were seen confidently walking the runway, showcasing her quick and efficient artistry.

Observers noted her approach: minimal contouring, clean finishes, and a steady pace. After each makeover, models had their headshots taken in a photo booth and were featured on a display screen before walking the runway.

The 150 models involved in the challenge represent a wide range of body types from petite to plus-size highlighting the diversity embraced by Tacha’s beauty brand.

Within the first hour, she had reportedly completed around 15 makeovers, prompting speculation that she might successfully meet or exceed her target before the 24-hour window closes.

Once the session concludes on Sunday, the final results will be compiled and submitted to Guinness World Records for verification.
