President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to the late Dr. Michael Okpara, former Premier of the old Eastern Region, describing him as a visionary leader who successfully integrated his people into the national framework.

Speaking on Friday in Umuahia during the commissioning of the newly renovated Michael Okpara Auditorium, President Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of Works, David Umahi said Okpara’s leadership left a lasting impact on the region and Nigeria as a whole.

He urged people of the South East to emulate Okpara’s style of politics, which he noted was centered on service and unity.

“I am pleased that he is being honored today through the renovation of this edifice that will continue to bear his name,” Tinubu stated.

In his remarks, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, explained that his administration met the Michael Okpara Auditorium in a deplorable condition and decided to give it a complete facelift to restore its relevance and significance.
