Nottingham Forest have officially appointed Sean Dyche as their new head coach on a contract running until the summer of 2027.

The 54-year-old, who previously managed Burnley and Everton, takes over from Ange Postecoglou, who was dismissed on Saturday after just 40 days in charge, the shortest permanent managerial stint in Premier League history.

Dyche, who began his playing career as a trainee at Forest under the legendary Brian Clough, returns to familiar ground as the club’s third manager this season. This marks his first job since leaving Everton earlier this year.

In a statement on Tuesday, the club described Dyche as “a respected and experienced Premier League manager who brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen, and proven achievement to guide the club through its next chapter.”

Dyche’s first challenge will come quickly in an Europa League home fixture against Porto on Thursday.

Postecoglou’s departure followed a disappointing start to the season, with no wins from eight games, including a 3–0 defeat to Chelsea over the weekend. Owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly lost patience after the club’s poor run, despite spending more than £100 million on new signings during the transfer window.

Forest currently sit in the Premier League relegation zone with just five points from eight matches.
