TikTok has named ‘Wasiu Ayinde’ by BhadBoi OML as Nigeria’s Song of the Summer for 2025, celebrating its viral impact and creative fusion of contemporary pop with traditional Yoruba Fuji sounds.
According to TikTok’s Head of Music Partnerships for the UK, Ireland, and Sub-Saharan Africa, Toyin Mustapha, the track’s success showcases how Nigerian artists are redefining Afrobeats through authentic cultural blends.
He noted that the platform’s summer chart reflected a dynamic mix of genres, from high-energy anthems by Davido, Olamide, and Rybeena to gospel-inspired and cross-African collaborations that resonated deeply with Nigerian audiences.
Mustapha emphasized TikTok’s role as a cultural hub where fans, creators, and musicians shape trends in real time, enabling Nigerian music to break boundaries and reach global listeners.
The 2025 Songs of the Summer list, he added, highlighted the nation’s growing musical diversity and the power of collaboration, featuring tracks like “99” by Olamide, Seyi Vibez, Asake, Young Jonn, and Daecolm, and “With You” by Davido and Omah Lay.
He also noted the enduring appeal of Amapiano and the rise of emotionally charged viral hits such as Chella’s “My Darling.” These tracks, he said, captured the vibrance and creativity of Nigeria’s youth while cementing TikTok’s position as a driving force in promoting culturally rooted music to a global audience.
