Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has assured Nigerians that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is undergoing a major rebuilding process aimed at restoring its unity, strength, and readiness to lead the nation again.
Fintiri made this known on Thursday through a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account after inspecting the venue for the party’s upcoming national convention scheduled for November 15 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
His remarks come amid a wave of defections that has recently hit the PDP, with several key members crossing over to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Notably, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State both joined the APC earlier this week, in moves that stunned political observers.
Speaking after the inspection, Fintiri stated: “Today, I led the PDP National Convention Organising Committee Executive to Ibadan, Oyo State, to assess preparations for our forthcoming Ibadan 2025 Convention. Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts reflect excellence and readiness. We’re building a stronger PDP, a united, focused, and prepared party which is ready to lead Nigeria forward.”
The governor emphasized that the convention will mark a renewed chapter for the party, driven by collaboration, discipline, and a shared vision for national development.
