Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has opened up about her four-year retreat from the spotlight, revealing it was a deliberate period of self-reflection and transformation.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the singer explained that her time away allowed her to realign mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. She described the isolation as a blessing that gave her hindsight, insight, and foresight tools that reshaped her life.
“I started isolating even before I had my child. It was important for me to reflect. I’ve done so much work on myself. It helped change how I see men, and I now operate on a totally different level,” she shared.
Seyi also spoke about her evolving spirituality and new outlook on life “My spirituality has transformed. I’m vibrating on a different frequency now. I love all the men. It’s a man’s world.”
Addressing her relationship status, she clarified why she’s not married to her daughter’s father.
“It’s a technical issue. But we’re good. He’s Nigerian, currently in the UK, and works in the corporate side of the music industry. We co-parent well and remain great friends.”
This rare interview marks one of Seyi Shay’s most personal public reflections in recent years, shedding light on her journey of growth and healing.
