Chief Peter Taiwo Ogundeji (APATA) has expressed deep shock over the passing of the Owa of Igbajo, Oba Philip Adegboyega Famodun, describing the late monarch as a rare statesman and one of the most strategic political figures to emerge from Osun State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Ogundeji said Oba Famodun’s death marks the end of an era for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, where the late traditional ruler once served as state chairman.
He hailed the monarch as a courageous leader, a unifier, and a bridge between generations, noting that his dedication to democracy and responsible leadership stood out throughout his political career.
“Even as Chairman of our great party, he steered the ship through turbulent times with calm strength and uncommon wisdom,” Ogundeji said.
He described the late Oba as a man of dignity and principle whose contributions to political stability, community development, and grassroots mobilisation had left an indelible mark on Osun’s political history.
Beyond politics, Chief Ogundeji noted that Oba Famodun was a compassionate and humble leader whose grace and humanity earned him respect across divides.
“Osun State has truly lost an illustrious son. Igbajo has lost a proud Oba, and the APC family has lost a pillar,” he added.
He extended condolences to the immediate family of the late monarch, the people of Igbajo, members of the APC in Osun and across Nigeria, and all who held the traditional ruler in high regard.
Ogundeji prayed for God to comfort the bereaved family and grant the late Oba’s soul peaceful rest, noting that his legacy of honour, service, and principled leadership would endure for generations.
