The national convention of the People’s Democratic Party has expelled Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu and the National Legal Adviser of the party, Kamaldeen Ajibade over alleged anti-party activities.
The decision was made at the ongoing national convention of the party in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.
Others expelled include former Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, zonal chairman of the PDP in south south, Chief Dan Orbih, acting national chairman, Mohammed Abdulrahman, Mr Umar Bature, Austine Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah and George Turner.
According to the fifth motion of the convention, the party accused them of breaching the constitution of the PDP and openly canvassing votes for opposition.
“WHEREAS by Articles 33(2) (1), (2) () (n) & (r) of the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) Constitution 2017 (as amended), the National Convention of the Party shall
have supremacy in all matters pertaining to the Party and all officers and organs ofthe Party including matters of discipline of officers and members;
“WHEREAS it is important to underscore the fundamental principles that a political party is a voluntary organization and members are expected to join it out of their volition as allowed by Section 40 of the Constitution of the FRN 1999 (as amended) and are to be bound by its fundamental principles and aspirations as expressed in its Constitution;
“WHEREAS the persons mentioned above have committed various breaches of the
Party’s Constitution including supporting and canvassing votes for opposition.”
Wike and every other person expelled are currently not at the convention ground..
