Senate President Godswill Akpabio says the frequent reports of killings in Plateau State deeply sadden him, admitting that he often sheds tears whenever he hears of violent attacks in the state.
Akpabio’s comments were contained in a statement released on Sunday by his media aide, Anietie Ekong. He noted that President Bola Tinubu is equally troubled by the recurring violence and is determined to restore lasting peace to Plateau communities.
According to him, it is painful to see a state once known for peace and harmonious living turn into a hotspot for bloodshed, destruction, and constant unrest. He emphasized that the violence has gone on for far too long and must be brought to an end.
“I cry whenever anybody is killed in the Plateau. The state is yearning for peace, and President Tinubu will deliver that peace,” Akpabio said.
He added that countless lives and properties have been lost over the years, stressing that Plateau people deserve stability and security. “Too many lives have been lost. Too many homes destroyed. Plateau deserves peace, and anyone who wants to govern this state must be committed to peace,” he said.
