The Lagos State Police Command has clarified that it was not involved in the arrest of Samuel Daniels, brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels. The arrest, they stated, was conducted by police officers from Abuja.
Spokesperson Superintendent of Police (SP) Abimbola Adebisi confirmed via text message to Vanguard on Tuesday night that the officers who carried out the arrest were on official duty from Abuja and acted with a valid warrant.
“The individual in question was not arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command. The officers who effected the arrest came from Abuja with a duly signed arrest warrant. The suspect was temporarily detained at Ogombo Division due to the late hour, pending further procedural action,” SP Adebisi explained.
The statement comes after social media reports claimed that Lagos police arrested Samuel Daniels amid an ongoing online dispute involving his family and Senator Ned Nwoko.
On Monday night, Lawrence Daniels, Regina’s elder brother, accused Senator Nwoko of harassing his siblings and warned that he should be held accountable if anything happened to them.
As of press time, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command had not issued an official statement regarding the arrest or any allegations against Daniels. SP Josephine Adeh, FCT police spokesperson, did not respond to calls or messages seeking comment.
