The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has celebrated Nigerian content creator Bemi Orojogun, popularly known as London Bus Aunty, after she won Video of the Year at the 2025 TikTok UK Awards.
In a post on X, Khan wrote “Congratulations to London’s very own Bus Aunty for winning Video of the Year at the TikTok Awards.”
Orojogun, a UK-based Nigerian TikTok star, was shortlisted alongside Friends of Elmtree, Sam Morris, Gardiner Brothers, Joseph Machines, and Brad Ben for the award, which recognises outstanding creators on the platform.
Khan praised her unique passion for London’s transport system, noting that her love for the city’s iconic red buses “has captured hearts across the country.” He also highlighted her enthusiasm for the Bakerloop, London’s newest express bus route.
According to BBC News, her winning video has accumulated nearly 50 million views on TikTok.
While accepting the award on Friday, Orojogun encouraged fans with a motivational message.
“Don’t allow your age to stop you. Don’t allow your family to say, ‘Don’t do that, it’s embarrassing.’ If you love it, do it.”
Orojogun first went viral in 2024 with a forced-perspective video that transformed her into a social-media sensation.
Since then, she has evolved into a full-fledged influencer, collaborating with major brands such as Burberry, H&M, IKEA, Jacquemus, Maybelline, JBL, and most recently MAC Cosmetics.
She has also worked on public projects, including London’s initiative to deploy 2,000 zero-emission buses, where she featured in campaigns alongside the Mayor.
Affectionately nicknamed “London Bus Aunty,” her pavement-side bus videos have inspired humorous reactions online, particularly among Nigerian viewers who jokingly challenge her to recreate her stunts in bustling locations like Oshodi or CMS.
