Abubakar-Malami-

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), says his engagement with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was “successful,” following his appearance before investigators over alleged corruption during his time in office.

Malami, who disclosed the update on his X account early Saturday, announced that he had been released and given a date for further questioning by the anti-graft agency. He maintained that the truth behind what he described as “fabricated allegations” against him would continue to emerge.

“In line with my undertaking to keep Nigerians updated on my invitation by EFCC, I give glory to Allah for His divine intervention,” he wrote. “The engagement was successful and I am eventually released, while on an appointment for further engagement, as the truth relating to the fabricated allegations against me continues to unfold.”

The EFCC had invited the former minister for interrogation over alleged wrongdoing while serving under former President Muhammadu Buhari between 2015 and 2023.

Prior to honouring the invitation, Malami assured the public that he remained committed to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law values he said guided his years in public service.

“I am informing my family and friends that EFCC has invited me to clarify some issues, and as a citizen of law and order and a patriot, I am willing to honour this invitation without any hesitation,” he had stated, reaffirming his readiness to cooperate fully with investigators.

Malami added that he would continue to keep Nigerians informed as developments unfold.
