The Senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, has alleged that a coordinated group he described as a “syndicate of pull-down-Ned” is exploiting the controversy involving his wife, Regina Daniels, to damage his reputation.

Nwoko’s claims come amid widespread reports suggesting the couple is experiencing marital difficulties.

In a statement issued by the Communication/Technical Action Team from his office and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday, the Senator said long-standing detractors were now using Regina’s situation to portray him negatively before the international community.

He dismissed allegations of land grabbing in his hometown, saying, “Beyond this, the talk about me grabbing land in my hometown is false and unfortunate… I was allocated a piece of land… to establish the University of Sports — a project that exists today and serves the community.”

He said those attacking him were driven by resentment towards progress. He further alleged that some individuals were now taking advantage of Regina’s health challenges.

Nwoko stated, “The facts are there. Those exploiting her present condition to settle old scores… will eventually face justice… If by now she has not brought up any credible allegation against me, it means there is nothing illegal about me, except that I want her to seek help for rehabilitation.”

He insisted that Regina had a history of substance use, referencing statements she had publicly made and testimonies from former schoolmates. He added that critics pushing narratives against him were spreading “criminal defamation”.

Nwoko also addressed the debate surrounding Regina’s age at the time of marriage, saying, “Regina Daniels was born on October 10, 2000… If she has been married for six years, that means she got married at 19 years old, not 17.”

The Senator said their marriage followed due process and was publicly acknowledged by her family.

He emphasised that he had treated Regina with respect and affection, arguing that she had become an entry point for his political opponents.
According to him, “My decision to marry her properly according to tradition is now being twisted into a tool for political blackmail…”

Nwoko described the situation as an orchestrated campaign aimed at undermining his political work and development projects now that he serves as a Federal Lawmaker.
