The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a reduction in the 2026 Hajj fares for intending pilgrims across the country, marking a significant drop compared to the 2025 rates.

According to the new figures released by the Commission, intending pilgrims from the Borno and Adamawa zones will now pay ₦7,579,020.96, down from ₦8,327,125.59 in 2025 — a reduction of ₦748,104.63.

Similarly, pilgrims from the Northern Zone will pay ₦7,696,769.76, representing a ₦760,915.83 decrease from the previous year’s fare of ₦8,457,685.59, while those from the Southern Zone will pay ₦7,991,141.76, a reduction of ₦792,943.83 from ₦8,784,085.59.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, NAHCON explained that the downward review was made to make the pilgrimage more affordable for Nigerian Muslims ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The Commission also announced December 5, 2025, as the new payment deadline for all intending pilgrims.

“Intending pilgrims are advised to complete their payments on or before the stated deadline to ensure smooth processing and participation in the 2026 Hajj,” the statement read.

NAHCON further urged the public to visit its official website — www.nahcon.gov.ng — for more information and updates on the Hajj process.

The development follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive in October, conveyed through his Deputy Chief of Staff, Senator Ibrahim Hadeija, instructing NAHCON to review and reduce the cost of the 2026 Hajj fares earlier announced by the Commission.

A month prior, in September, the agency had released its initial approved fares for the 2026 pilgrimage before the presidential directive prompted the review.
