More than 4,000 residents have received free eye-care services organised to commemorate the 40th birthday of philanthropist and APC stalwart in Osun State, Chief (Dr.) Peter Taiwo Ogundeji.

The outreach, which took place simultaneously across centres in Ede, Iwo, Ejigbo, and Ikire—within the Osun West Senatorial District—recorded roughly 1,000 beneficiaries per location.

Large crowds of APC supporters and residents welcomed Dr Ogundeji at each venue with songs and praises, expressing appreciation for his compassion and years of humanitarian contributions.

Speaking to beneficiaries across the centres, Dr Ogundeji said the initiative was his way of giving back to society. He stressed the need for people to pay attention to their health, pointing out that poor health remains a major barrier to economic progress and improved quality of life.

He also noted that the outreach was driven by his commitment to enhancing the welfare of individuals, especially those who do not have the means to address their health needs.

The APC Chairman of Ede-North Local Government, Alhaji Adesina Alabi, lauded Ogundeji for the gesture, recalling that he had previously led various empowerment and community development programmes that reflect his sincere dedication to humanity.

One beneficiary, Mrs. Christiana Adeyeye, expressed joy after receiving free reading glasses from the medical team, saying the glasses would significantly support her daily tasks and thanking the celebrant for making them available at no cost.

Another beneficiary, Pa Fatai Gbadamosi, said he was approved for free cataract surgery at the State Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo, following an eye examination carried out during the outreach.

The week-long celebration of Chief (Dr.) Peter Ogundeji—widely known as Apata—began yesterday with a colloquium and the official unveiling of his book, “From Hustle to Hope.”

The activities continue tomorrow with a Novelty Football Match between Iwo All Stars and Ejigbo All Stars at the Iwo Township Stadium, aimed at fostering unity and friendly competition among communities in Osun West.

On Thursday, 20 November, focus will shift to youth and women empowerment at Legacy Hall, Ola Town, Ejigbo Local Government, where sewing machines, hair dryers, and other tools will be distributed to apprentices and small-scale business owners to boost productivity and self-reliance.

Friday, 21 November, will feature Special Prayers for the celebrant at Apata Castle, opposite Gbolaru Palace, Ilupeju Estate, Ido-Osun, where relatives, friends, and supporters will gather in thanksgiving.

The grand finale is scheduled for Sunday, 23 November, at De-Legend Event Centre, beside Grace Cooking Gas, Dele Yes Sir Area, Osogbo. The closing ceremony is expected to attract associates, partners, family members, and admirers who continue to honour Apata’s enduring legacy of leadership and generosity.
