The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 26 men allegedly involved in circulating counterfeit currency and producing adulterated diesel in the Eti-Osa and Lekki areas of the state.

 

The suspects were picked up on November 27, 2025, around 1:30 p.m. during a coordinated raid carried out with officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) unit.

 

According to a statement released on Friday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, officers recovered ₦951,300 in fake naira notes during the operation.

 

Preliminary findings revealed that four of the suspects — Abubakar Rilean (40), Abubakar Abdullahi (35), Adamu Ibrahim Jora (35), and Michael John (30) — were directly responsible for manufacturing and distributing adulterated engine oil and diesel, locally called “rice and beans,” which they allegedly sold to unsuspecting motorists.

 

Two other suspects, identified as Ichapi Moses (30) and Samson Adike (28), were reportedly responsible for supplying the adulterated products within the Eti-Osa axis.

 

The statement warned that such criminal activities pose serious risks to public safety and vehicle integrity.

 

He added: “Anyone found engaging in acts capable of endangering public peace, damaging vehicles, or threatening economic stability will face the full weight of the law.”

 

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, assured residents that the Command remained fully prepared to curb criminal activity in the state.

 

The CP stated: “The state is safe and there is no room for criminals or their unlawful activities. The safety and well-being of all residents remain the Command’s top priority.”

 

Residents were encouraged to cooperate with security agencies by providing reliable information that could aid investigations a

nd timely arrests.
