The Super Eagles of Nigeria have resumed training after a brief standoff with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over unpaid allowances.

On Tuesday, players and officials of the national team had boycotted their scheduled evening training session in protest against the non-payment of allowances for their qualification to the  the 2026 World Cup playoffs.

While details of the resolution between the players and football administrators were not made public, both parties appear to have reached a mutual understanding, allowing the team to return to full preparations.

Confirming the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong announced that the issue had been settled, assuring fans of the team’s renewed focus ahead of their crucial fixtures.

“Issue RESOLVED. We are together and, as before, focused on the games ahead!” Troost-Ekong wrote.

The Super Eagles are set to face Gabon on Thursday in one of the semi-final clashes of the 2026 African World Cup playoffs.

The winner of the encounter will go on to play either Congo DR or Cameroon in the final, with the victor earning a spot in the intercontinental playoff for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
