President Bola Tinubu has sent warm birthday wishes to former President Goodluck Jonathan, who turns 68, calling him a true statesman whose actions continue to shape Nigeria’s democracy.
In a statement released on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu joined Jonathan’s family, friends, and political allies in celebrating the milestone.
The President highlighted Jonathan’s humility and calm leadership style, especially his historic decision during the 2015 presidential election, an act Tinubu described as a major boost to Nigeria’s democratic reputation.
Tinubu also reflected on his own past interactions with the former president, noting moments of support and counsel that, according to him, contributed to Jonathan’s political advancement in 2010 and in the lead-up to the 2011 elections.
He further praised Jonathan’s continued role on the global stage, commending his dedication to promoting democracy across Africa through various diplomatic engagements.
President Tinubu concluded by praying for more years of good health and happiness for Jonathan, his wife Patience, and their entire family.
