The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Policy, Sunday Dare, has offered clarity on rising public interest surrounding how security agencies rescued 38 abducted worshippers from Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

In a post shared on his X account on Tuesday, Dare noted that operations to secure kidnapping victims are typically delicate and involve several layers of coordination across security formations, community intelligence, and careful strategic planning.

According to him, **“The process of securing or freeing victims of kidnappings is often a complicated one involving several steps and multiple security personnel, even local intelligence.

“The ultimate goal is to free the captives and of course apprehend the terrorists.

“The full details of such operations are never disclosed in full. It’s a security matter.”**

He praised the efforts of the security operatives who carried out recent rescues in Niger and Kwara states, stating that those behind the attacks would soon face prosecution.

“We salute recent efforts by our security team in the Niger and Kwara incidents and know that perpetrators and the kidnappers will soon be arraigned to face the law of the land,” Dare added.

His remarks follow Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s announcement that the 38 abductees had regained freedom — an achievement he attributed to President Bola Tinubu’s direct involvement.

In a statement, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, said:

“After many days of hard work by security forces and government representatives, HE AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) is excited to announce the freedom of 38 persons who were recently abducted in an attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Eruku, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State.”

Governor AbdulRazaq also stated that the successful rescue was largely due to the President’s hands-on role, noting that Tinubu postponed a scheduled G20 summit trip to focus on security operations in Kwara and Kebbi.

“The governor says this is wholly due to the hands-on approach of President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, who has personally led the efforts to free the abductees… The governor is immensely grateful to President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, for his direct initiative that made this happen,” the statement read.

Dare’s comments highlight the need to protect sensitive operational information while assuring Nigerians that security agencies are working efficiently and that suspects will be brought to justice.
