Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party, blaming what he described as unresolved leadership disputes at the party’s national level.

In a statement posted on his Instagram page late Monday, the governor revealed that he had tendered his resignation on November 4, 2025, submitting his letter to party leaders in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government Area.

Adeleke wrote “Due to the prolonged leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party at the national level, I have formally submitted my resignation as a member of the party to its leadership in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government on November 4, 2025.”

He expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities he enjoyed, including his time as a Senator and his current role as Governor of Osun State.

Earlier reports from the PDP in Osun had suggested that Adeleke might not pursue the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election if the internal disputes remained unresolved.

Party executives had hoped that a settlement officially recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) might convince him to reconsider.

The Osun PDP leadership previously hinted that the governor’s interest in running under the party’s platform could change if the national crisis was resolved within INEC’s stipulated timetable for the state’s gubernatorial poll
