Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reportedly walked away with a massive win after correctly predicting the outcome of Nigeria’s opening match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The DMW boss placed a bet on the Super Eagles’ Group C clash against Tanzania in Fes, Morocco, backing both teams to score during the encounter. His prediction paid off handsomely as Nigeria edged the Taifa Stars 2-1 in an exciting contest on Tuesday.
Despite dominating possession for much of the game, Nigeria fell behind when Tanzania struck first against the run of play. The Super Eagles, however, showed resilience, pulling level before Ademola Lookman fired home a late winner to seal the comeback victory.
Lookman’s decisive goal not only secured all three points for Nigeria but also earned Davido a substantial payout. Reports say the singer pocketed $96,564 from the successful wager, an amount estimated at about ₦150 million.
The victory gives Nigeria a strong start to their AFCON 2025 campaign and boosts their chances in Group C as they push for a fourth continental title. The Super Eagles will now turn their attention to their next group match, hoping to build on the momentum and book a place in the knockout stages.
