Bola Oyebamiji

Former Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the August 8, 2026 elections.

Oyebamiji was elected at the primary election held on Saturday in Osogbo.

Oyebamiji has been chosen as concensus candidate of the Party, after six aspirants who were earlier screened out, met with President Bola Tinubu at Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The last person in the race, Hon. Mulikat Adeola Akande, also stepped down following the Abuja accord.

At the Congress on Saturday, one of the former aspirants, Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, SAN, moved a for the affirmation of Oyebamiji and it was seconded by another former aspirant, Babajide Omoworare.

Chairman of the primary, Okpebholo affirmed Oyebamiji after all 1,660 delegates adopted the motion via voice vote.

InsightLinks has reported that the chairman of the Osun APC governorship primary election, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State and his team have commenced the primary.

Also present were Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state, while Lagos governor, Babjide Sanwo-Olu was represented by his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

Also present were former Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, among other party chieftains.
