Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially obtained his All Progressives Congress (APC) membership card, sealing his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.
The presentation took place on Friday at the Government House, Port Harcourt, where the Rivers State APC Chairman, Tony Okocha, formally handed the card to the governor.
Okocha described the development as a significant step for the APC in Rivers State, noting that Fubara’s entry into the party signals a major shift in the state’s political landscape and strengthens the party’s base ahead of future elections.
Governor Fubara’s defection had earlier been reported, following weeks of speculation about his political direction amid tensions within the PDP.
His formal registration with the APC is expected to reshape political alignments and deepen the party’s influence across the state.
