Nollywood star Funke Akindele has once again proven her box office power as Behind The Scenes raked in an impressive ₦512 million within 12 days, making it the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2025 so far.
The movie, which had advance screenings on December 10 and 11, officially hit cinemas across Nigeria on December 12 and has since enjoyed massive patronage from moviegoers.
Confirming the milestone, the film’s distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, described the achievement as historic in a post shared on Instagram on Monday. The company thanked cinema audiences across Nigeria and Ghana for turning out in large numbers to support the film.
“Another history has been made. Thank you, West Africa, for showing up, filling cinemas, and carrying this story with love,” FilmOne wrote.
According to the distributor, Behind The Scenes has also become the fastest Nollywood movie to cross the ₦500 million mark, while topping the box office charts as the number-one film of the weekend.
“₦512M at the box office. Highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2025. Fastest Nollywood movie to hit ₦500M,” FilmOne added.
FilmOne noted that the movie’s strong performance reflects the confidence audiences have in the story and its creators, describing the success as proof of belief in the project. The film is still showing in cinemas nationwide.
Behind The Scenes explores the theme of black tax and stars Scarlet Gomez in the lead role. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Funke Akindele, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre, Uche Montana, Uzor Arukwe, Ini Dima-Okojie, Mr Macaroni, Ibrahim Chatta, Kamo State, as well as reality TV stars Handi and Wanni Danbaki, among others.
Earlier reports had revealed that the movie crossed ₦200 million during its opening weekend, becoming the first Nollywood film of 2025 to achieve that feat. At the time, FilmOne described it as the biggest opening weekend of the year, setting multiple box office records, including the highest weekend admissions in 2025.
