Fuji music legend, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde widely known as K1 De Ultimate (KWAM1), has taken the Ogun State Government and five other parties to court over the ongoing process to install a new Awujale of Ijebuland.

K1 approached Ogun State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Ode, seeking an interim injunction to halt any further steps toward the selection and installation of a new monarch.

Named as respondents in the suit are Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

The Fuji star has openly declared interest in contesting for the vacant Awujale stool, claiming he belongs to the Jadiara Royal House, which he says is part of the larger Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

However, his claim has been strongly disputed by members of the ruling house, who insist that the Olori Omoba of Ijebuland has no ancestral ties to the Fusengbuwa lineage, effectively disqualifying him from the succession process.

In a motion ex parte filed before High Court 2 under Suit No: HC3/238/2025, dated December 16, Ayinde urged the court to restrain the respondents from proceeding with the selection process pending the determination of the substantive case.

The application was brought under Orders 38 Rule 4 and 39 Rule 1 of the Ogun State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2024, Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), and the inherent powers of the court.

According to the applicant, the interim injunction is necessary to protect his interest and prevent the subject matter of the suit from being altered or rendered meaningless before the court reaches a final decision.

As at the time of filing this report, no hearing date has been fixed for the case.
