American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has sent a message of sympathy and support to British heavyweight star Anthony Joshua following a tragic road accident involving the boxer in Ogun State, Nigeria.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Paul stressed that life matters more than sport, offering prayers for everyone affected by the incident.
“Life is much more important than boxing. I am praying for the lost lives, AJ, and anyone impacted by today’s unfortunate accident,” he wrote.
The message quickly gained traction online, attracting over 227,000 views within hours and drawing reactions from boxing fans, fellow athletes, and commentators across the sport.
Paul’s show of concern comes just days after the two fighters faced each other in the ring. In their December 19 bout in Miami, Anthony Joshua delivered a dominant performance, knocking Paul out in the sixth round and reportedly breaking his jaw in two places.
Reports indicate that Joshua survived the road crash on Monday, though the accident sadly claimed two lives. A black Lexus SUV conveying the former world champion and others was said to have collided with a red Sinotruck.
As of the time of filing this report, no official medical statement had been released. However, the incident triggered widespread concern on social media, with Nigerians and boxing fans around the world sending prayers and well-wishes to Joshua and others affected.
