Peter Taiwo Ogundeji, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has congratulated Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji on his victory at the APC Governorship Primary Election in Osun State.
Describing the victory as a triumph of unity, loyalty and strategic leadership, Chief Ogundeji said the outcome of the primary reflects the deep trust and confidence reposed in Oyebamiji by party members across the state.
He noted that Oyebamiji’s rich blend of public service experience, financial expertise and administrative competence has long distinguished him as a dependable leader.
“When a man is chosen by many, it is because his footprints are already visible on the path ahead,” he said, adding that the primary victory is not an end in itself, but a call to greater responsibility and service to the people of Osun State.
Ogundeji, fondly called Apata, recalled that Oyebamiji’s track record as former Commissioner for Finance under the administration of former governor Gboyega Oyetola, as well as his current role as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority, clearly demonstrates his capacity for prudent management, institutional reform and effective governance. According to him, such experience positions Hon. Oyebamiji as a steady hand capable of steering Osun State towards sustainable economic growth.
Expressing firm confidence in the party’s candidate, Chief Ogundeji stated that the same discipline, professionalism and grassroots appeal that earned Hon. Oyebamiji the APC mandate will propel him successfully through the 2026 governorship election. He assured him of his full support, particularly from Osun West Senatorial District, noting that “a single broomstick breaks easily, but when bound together, it sweeps the hardest floor.” He pledged to work with other party leaders and stakeholders to ensure total victory for the APC in 2026.
Commending Oyebamiji’s passion for public service, compassion for the people and commitment to inclusive governance, Chief Ogundeji described him as a leader of character and capacity.
He said Oyebamiji’s journey from the banking sector into public finance and national service reflects a life devoted to competence and accountability. “Leadership is not about position but about vision, service and sacrifice,” he added, expressing optimism that Osun State will witness renewed progress and people-centred governance under his leadership.
Chief Ogundeji also lauded and appreciated the leadership of the APC at all levels, beginning with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his fatherly intervention and stabilising role in strengthening unity within the Osun APC. He equally acknowledged elder statesman and former Governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande, for his enduring guidance and statesmanship, as well as the immediate past Governor of Osun State and Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, for his consistent support and commitment to party cohesion.
He further commended all former aspirants for placing party interest above personal ambition and embracing consensus, noting that “when brothers close ranks, strangers cannot break the wall.” He described their collective support for the affirmation of Bola Oyebamiji as a clear signal of unity and readiness to reclaim Osun State for the APC in 2026.
Chief Ogundeji concluded by wishing Oyebamiji a successful campaign journey and reaffirmed his belief that Osun State is poised for a brighter future under purposeful and united leadership. “The crown fits only the head prepared to carry its weight,” he said, expressing confidence that Oyebamiji is equal to the task ahead.
