The Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta, Sheikh Molaasan, has dismissed reports claiming that he was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Following a pro-Palestine protest held in Iwo, Osun State, the video showed members of the group marching and raising the Palestinian flag

Also, the involvement of children chanting strong religious slogans during the protest all of which heightened concerns and earned condemnation by the public Nationwide, with calls to the DSS to take action.

Speaking from Iwo, Osun State, the Islamic cleric, who leads the Ta’awunu Muslimeen group, described the reports as false and misleading.

He stressed that he maintains a cordial relationship with the DSS and other security agencies across the country.

According to Sheikh Molaasan, he has never been taken into custody, adding that he assists in apprehending criminals and hand them over to security agencies

“We are friends of the DSS and other security operatives in Nigeria. No one arrested us. We are doing the work of security and assisting them,” he said.
