Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has stirred reactions after claiming he has supported more people in the music industry than top stars like Olamide, Don Jazzy, Wizkid, and Davido.

In a recent live video, the Zazu crooner insisted that his impact goes beyond the entertainment industry, stressing that he also extends help to the less privileged in society.

According to him, unlike many artistes who “carry ego,” he freely associates with everyday people and frequently engages with fans on social media.

Portable said many Nigerian celebrities refuse to acknowledge or repost videos made by their fans, even when the content promotes their music. He, however, claimed he reposts every positive video about him.

He further alleged that most top artistes won’t feature upcoming musicians unless money is involved, adding that his own support is genuine and not transactional.

“I help people freely. I have helped more people in the music industry than Don Jazzy, Olamide, Wizkid and Davido,” he boasted.

Explaining what he considers true support, Portable said helping someone means taking them off the streets, giving them shelter, food, and paying for their first studio sessions not doing business under the guise of assistance.

He criticized those who accuse rising artistes of being “ungrateful” when they decide to become independent, arguing that many so-called helpers only use young talents for profit.

“Most people claiming they helped artistes are just doing business. When those artistes decide to grow, they tag them ungrateful. How are they ungrateful when you only used them for business?” he added.
