Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, says the increasing number of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors across the country shows that Nigerians continue to place their trust in the ruling party.
Speaking at the closing session of the two-day Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) meeting held in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu praised his colleagues for their dedication to national development and support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The governor noted that the lengthy sessions lasting over 12 hours demonstrated the governors’ commitment to strengthening governance and improving the welfare of citizens.
“It is never easy to sit through such rigorous discussions, but my colleagues showed exceptional commitment to the progress of our nation,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted the unity displayed by the governors throughout the meeting, saying their cultural representation and teamwork communicated a powerful message of harmony and national cohesion.
He also announced that Lagos will revive its long-dormant cultural festival, set to take place on December 27, with about 10,000 residents expected to participate in the colourful celebration of the state’s heritage.
On national issues, the governor revealed that security was a major focus of their deliberations, adding that the forum had agreed to compile and submit a joint set of recommendations to President Tinubu.
“As chief security officers of our states, we will leave no stone unturned to ensure that peace continues to reign across the country,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed the forum’s unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu, whom he described as a father figure and humble statesman steering Nigeria through a critical period.
He credited the PGF Chairman, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, for the steady rise in the number of APC-controlled states.
“We are now 25 progressive governors. When we started, we were about 18 or 19. This growth shows Nigerians believe in the direction our party is taking,” he added.
The Lagos governor thanked his colleagues for acknowledging Lagos as a model of progressive governance and assured them that the state would continue to uphold APC values at all levels.
As residents prepare for the festive season, Sanwo-Olu urged both party members and Lagosians to remain united and focused on collective progress.
“We remain committed, we remain progressive, and we remain focused on delivering for our people. Lagos will continue to stand strong for the progress of our party and our nation,” he said.
