The Supreme Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Emmanuel Alogbo, has condemned the abduction of worshippers during a church service in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He called on Governor Usman Ododo to intensify rescue efforts and ensure the safe return of the victims.
Gunmen had invaded the church mid-service on November 30, 2025, abducting several members who have remained in captivity since the attack.
In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by the church’s spokesperson, Omololu Olubode, Alogbo described the incident as disturbing and a threat to freedom of worship in Nigeria.
“The attack and abduction of innocent worshippers on November 30 is troubling and signals danger for free worship as guaranteed by the constitution.
The terrorists’ actions show an attempt to silence true worship. Turning places of worship into hunting grounds is a sad reflection of the security situation in Kogi State,” the statement said.
Alogbo acknowledged the recent efforts of the Federal Government and security agencies to combat kidnapping and banditry but urged the state government to take swift and decisive action.
“Governor Usman Ododo must act decisively. The lives of the worshippers depend on the speed and seriousness of his administration’s response,” he said.
He also appealed to Nigerians and the international community to support efforts aimed at ending attacks on religious centres.
The incident adds to a series of kidnappings and security breaches recently recorded in Kogi State and other parts of the country.
