White cloth, human hair, bones, teeth, others recovered from their possession

The Osun State Police Command has arrested three herbalists over illegal possession of human parts suspected to have been removed from corpse exhumed at a cemetery in Iwo.

The suspects identified as Taiwo Ogunbode, Thomas Ogo and Lateef Afeez were arrested in Ileogbo in Ayedire local government area.

According to statement by the police spokesman, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, human parts such as hair, bones, teeth as well as white cloth were in their possession at the point of arrest.

Ojelabi said, “Upon credible intelligence availed to Police at Iwo Area Command that some people were in possession of human parts at Ile Ogbo close to Iwo, a team of policemen swiftly moved to the scene and the above three suspects were arrested inside a dilapidated building with the following exhibits: Two (2) Plastics containing human skin, White Gown used to bury corpse, Two (2) dried bones suspected to be human bones, Twenty one (21) pieces of teeth suspected to be human teeth, Four (4) horns wrapped with red cloth, Three (3) small nylon containing suspected human hair, One small knife, Substance suspected to be Indian Hemp, and cash sum of one hundred and twenty seven thousand naira only (#127,000).

“The suspects confessed to the crime and admitted to have exhumed the human parts from the corpse at a Muslim Cemetery located at Gaa-fulani Area, Ile-Ogbo with the intent of using the parts for money making rituals. Investigation revealed that, the syndicate specialized in exhuming corpse from cemetery for criminal reason. All suspects will be charged to Court after the completion of the investigations.

“The Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Gotan has directed all DPOs to constantly conduct intelligence-led raiding of the black spots within their area.”
