Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has said that his nomination as an ambassador-designate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given him a deeper understanding of forgiveness and patriotism.
In a statement posted on X on Sunday, Omokri expressed gratitude to God, his family and President Tinubu, describing the President’s gesture as an example of leadership driven by unity and national healing.
“I thank God Almighty for this nomination and look forward to serving my fatherland and humanity. I am especially grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary and exemplary leadership,” he wrote.
According to Omokri, Tinubu’s leadership style has reshaped his views on patriotism and personal grace.
“The President has taught me the meaning of forgiveness and has helped me better understand what patriotism entails,” he added. “In him, I see Christlike qualities. He is the right man, at the right time, for the right job, and deserves the support of all Nigerians.”
He prayed for God’s blessings on the President and for Nigeria to flourish under Tinubu’s administration.
Omokri also paid tribute to his parents, Esijolomi and Omerewumi, crediting them for shaping his values:
“They moulded me like clay into what I am today,” he said.
He reserved special praise for the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, describing him as “a personification of virtue,” adding that if goodness could be housed in one person, it would be him.
Omokri further acknowledged his wife, Hana, for standing by him during politically challenging moments.
“She has been my pillar, helping me stay calm during the three years when critics targeted me because of my unwavering support for the President and my loyalty to Nigeria,” he said.
In a related development, former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode also thanked President Tinubu on X for including him among the new ambassadorial nominees.
“This is a great honour, and I give God the glory,” Fani-Kayode wrote.
