The Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has expressed doubt that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar can defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election even if he teams up with Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

Musawa made the statement during a discussion on TheMicon Podcast, a clip of which was later shared on Instagram.

While describing Atiku as a strong political figure, she maintained that he would still fall short against the ruling party in the next election.

According to her, although she respects Atiku and considers him a patriot, she does not believe he has what it takes to unseat President Tinubu in 2027. She added that even a joint Atiku–Obi ticket would not be enough to secure victory for the opposition.

Musawa further argued that such an alliance could backfire, especially among Obi’s core supporters, popularly known as Obidients. She noted that many of them would be unhappy with Obi playing a vice-presidential role, which could lead to internal discontent and loss of support.

She also warned that the opposition’s chances would be worse if Obi were to lead the ticket as presidential candidate, insisting that such a move would make it easier for the ruling party to retain power.

The video has since generated mixed reactions online as political discussions around the 2027 elections continue to gain momentum. While some social media users agreed with Musawa’s views, others insisted that Obi remains the opposition’s strongest contender and accused the ruling party of political mind games.
