The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has disclosed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is being actively engaged in efforts to resolve the lingering political crisis in Rivers State.

Basiru made this known during an interview on TVC News on Thursday, where he acknowledged Wike’s influence and described him as a key stakeholder in the current political landscape.

According to the APC scribe, Wike’s involvement is considered crucial because Rivers State plays a significant role in the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“Wike is a strong supporter of President Tinubu, even though he is not a member of the APC,” Basiru said. “As someone who is deeply interested in the success of the President, Rivers State is critical to that success. That is why he is being engaged to help resolve the political crisis in the state.”

He stressed that engaging the former Rivers State governor was part of broader efforts to restore political stability in the oil-rich state.

Insightlinks reports that Wike has been embroiled in a prolonged political face-off with his estranged political protégé and current Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, over control of the state’s political structure.
