Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was announced on Friday by the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, via a post on social media, where he described the governor’s move as a significant boost to the ruling party.
Yilwatda welcomed Mutfwang on behalf of the party’s National Working Committee and members nationwide, praising the decision as bold and patriotic.
“On behalf of the National Working Committee and the entire APC family, I warmly welcome His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, into our great party,” Yilwatda said.
He added that the governor’s decision reflected a commitment to inclusive development, peace and prosperity for Plateau State, assuring him of the party’s readiness to work closely with his administration to deliver democratic dividends to the people.
Details surrounding the governor’s defection were not immediately made public.
The development comes after reports that Mutfwang had resigned from his former party amid speculations that he was preparing to join the APC.
