Chief (Dr) Peter Taiwo Ogundeji (APATA) has joined sons and daughters of Ejigboland and the wider Yoruba nation to celebrate the Ogiyan of Ejigboland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin, JP, as the revered monarch clocks 90 years.
In a heartfelt tribute, Ogundeji described the nonagenarian traditional ruler as a royal icon whose life embodies service, wisdom and honour, noting that his reign has left an indelible mark on Ejigboland, Osun State and Yorubaland at large.
Chief Ogundeji is also a 2027 senatorial aspirant, recalled that Oba Oyesosin’s ascension to the throne more than five decades ago ushered in an era of peace, stability and cultural preservation, adding that the monarch has consistently provided fatherly leadership anchored on humility, courage and strong moral values.
According to Ogundeji, the Ogiyan’s reign has strengthened unity among Ejigbo and its constituent communities, including Ola Land, sustaining long-standing bonds of mutual respect, consultation and communal harmony.
“As an indigene of Ola in Ejigbo Local Government Area, I hold this historic relationship in the highest esteem,” he said, reaffirming his loyalty and reverence to the monarch, whom he proudly described as a father figure and a moral compass to the people.
The Oluomo of Gbotaru, Ido Osun, further pledged his continued commitment to upholding the sanctity of the Ogiyan stool, drawing inspiration from the monarch’s life of sacrifice, discipline and selfless service.
Ogundeji prayed for continued sound health, inner peace and divine strength for the traditional ruler, expressing hope that the monarch would enjoy long life and witness the enduring fruits of his labour over Ejigboland.
He described the 90th birthday anniversary of Oba Oyesosin as a landmark celebration of a lifetime dedicated to royal service, unity and the progress of Ejigboland.
