Afrobeats star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has warmed hearts after making a surprise visit to his childhood neighbourhood in Benin City, Edo State.

Videos of the visit, which surfaced on social media on Sunday, showed the singer reconnecting with old friends and meeting residents who trooped out to welcome him. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as well-wishers surrounded the music star, chanting his name and expressing their love and pride.

In the clips circulating on X (formerly Twitter), the crowd could be heard repeatedly shouting, “Divine, we love you so much,” as they celebrated the global success of the Benin-born artiste.
Rema also paid a visit to his church, where he attended a service alongside his mother. During the service, the pastor publicly acknowledged the singer and appreciated his mother for her role in raising him.

“Thank you for being a part of this church and for raising this young man,” the pastor said, drawing applause from the congregation. He also remarked on the singer’s appearance, noting that Rema looked even more striking in person than in pictures.

The visit has continued to attract praise online, with fans describing it as a humble return to the roots that shaped the award-winning artiste.
