The Osun State National Assembly caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly dismissed reports claiming that the party’s State Executive Committee has been dissolved, describing the announcement as illegal, unconstitutional and completely invalid.

In a statement issued on Friday, January 16, 2026, the caucus said the Osun PDP State Executive Committee was duly elected and is entitled to a four-year tenure as clearly provided for in the party’s constitution. According to the lawmakers, no individual or group has the authority to arbitrarily truncate or dissolve the committee in violation of established democratic principles.

The caucus emphasised that a legitimately elected state executive enjoys full legal protection throughout its tenure and cannot be tampered with, especially by what it described as an unrecognised and illegitimate national leadership structure.

It further stated that there is currently no recognised national leadership of the PDP, making it unlawful and irresponsible for any group to assume powers not granted by law or the party’s constitution.

“Any unrecognised and unelected body lacks the authority to dissolve a validly elected and tenured state executive committee. Such a purported dissolution is null, void and of no effect,” the caucus declared.

Reaffirming its position, the lawmakers said the Osun State PDP Executive Committee remains valid, subsisting and fully in control of party affairs in the state. They urged party members across Osun to disregard the alleged dissolution, stressing that the executive committee has a constitutional mandate to complete its four-year term without interference.

The Osun PDP National Assembly caucus also reiterated its unwavering support for the existing party structures in the state and warned against continued efforts by desperate individuals to destabilise the party.

The statement was jointly signed by members of the caucus, including Senator Kamarudeen Olalere Oyewumi, Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, and Representatives Bamidele Salam, Clement Akanni Ademola, Mudashiru Lukman Alani, Olusoji Adetunji, Adewale Maruf Adebayo, and Oladebo Lanre Omoleye.
