The Abuja Branch of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria has announced plans to hold its 31st Annual Ramadan Lecture and Special Prayer for the Nation, as part of activities marking this year’s Ramadan, 1447AH.
The spiritually enriching event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00am at the Ansar-Ud-Deen Central Mosque, Plot 80, Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja.
With the theme: “Learning the Religion Beyond Its Adherents: A Critical Examination of Islamic Teachings Independent of Muslim Practice,” the lecture aims to deepen understanding of Islamic doctrines and promote objective reflection on the faith beyond the conduct of its followers.
The Guest Lecturer, Alhaji Tajudeen Adisa Taiwo, Imam of Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria, Okedan-Yewa Branch, Ogun State, is expected to deliver a thought-provoking discourse that will highlight the distinction between the pristine teachings of Islam and the actions of some adherents, while reinforcing the values of piety, accountability, and national cohesion.
According to the organisers, the annual Ramadan Lecture has become a flagship programme of the Society in Abuja, drawing eminent personalities, scholars, policymakers and members of the Muslim Ummah to reflect on faith, nationhood and collective responsibility.
The event will also feature special prayers for Nigeria, seeking divine guidance, peace and prosperity for the country and its leaders.
A distinguished array of dignitaries is expected at the occasion. They include: Amb. Abdulfatai Yahaya, MFR (Chairman); Dr. Mrs. Sekinah Bola-Oyebamiji, President, Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter (Chairperson); Hajia Bola Shagaya (Mother of the Day); Alh. Idris Umar of Dan Oil & Petrochemical; and Engr. Abdulkabir Adisa Aliu, Chairman of Matrix Energy, among other notable personalities.
The Abuja Branch of the Society urged members of the public, especially the Muslim faithful, to attend the lecture and partake in the special prayers for the nation.
Founded in 1923, the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria remains one of the foremost Islamic organisations in the country, committed to the promotion of education, moral discipline and socio-religious development.
As Nigeria continues to navigate complex socio-economic and security challenges, the organisers expressed optimism that the 31st Annual Ramadan Lecture would serve as a platform for spiritual renewal and constructive engagement in the interest of national unity and progress.
