The Federal Road Safety Corps has disengaged 43 of its personnel over offences ranging from desertion to scandalous conduct and patrol-related misconduct.

According to a statement signed by the Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, at the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, 31 officers were dismissed for desertion, five for scandalous behaviour, and seven for misconduct connected to patrol duties.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the move as a clear demonstration of the agency’s zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline and ethical violations. He said the action underscores the Corps’ commitment to upholding professionalism and accountability within its ranks.

Mohammed noted that the FRSC, as a paramilitary organisation, operates under strict standards and would not tolerate any act capable of undermining public trust or compromising its mandate of ensuring road safety.

He described desertion as a serious breach of service oath, particularly in an organisation tasked with safeguarding millions of road users daily. The Corps Marshal added that scandalous conduct and patrol misconduct erode public confidence and contradict the Corps’ core values of discipline, transparency, and service excellence.

The FRSC assured Nigerians that it would intensify internal monitoring, strengthen supervisory mechanisms, and promote ethical reorientation across its commands nationwide.

The Corps also called on members of the public to maintain confidence in its operations and continue supporting its efforts to create safer roads across the country.
