Nigeria’s entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of popular comic actor, Bamidele Tope Saint, widely known by his stage name, Okemesi.
The actor passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at about 11:50 a.m. in a hospital where he had been receiving treatment.
According to reports, Okemesi slipped into a coma for several hours after experiencing complications allegedly linked to medication administered at the hospital. Despite efforts by medical personnel to save him, he was later pronounced dead.
The sad news was confirmed in an emotional video shared on Instagram by fellow actor, Tony Montana Jeff. Fighting back tears, he announced that Okemesi had been certified dead by doctors at exactly 11:50 a.m.
“With a heavy heart, I’m announcing to the world that Okemesi is dead. The doctor pronounced him dead at exactly 11:50 a.m. this morning, February 24, 2026. Okemesi is gone,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, he added that the late actor’s body has been deposited in the mortuary and that further burial arrangements would be communicated in due course.
He also expressed gratitude to friends, colleagues, and fans who showed support during the actor’s final moments, praying for God to grant him eternal rest.
Okemesi was well known for his comic roles and vibrant screen presence, earning him a loyal fan base within Nigeria’s movie industry. His sudden death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans and colleagues across social media.
