Members of National and State Assemblies elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun state have affirmed their loyalty and reposed confidence on the state working committee led by Hon. Sunday Bisi.

The members made this known after a meeting held in Osogbo on Saturday night.

Reading the communique on behalf of the lawmakers, Deputy Minority of the Senate, Lere Oyewumi, said the PDP remains virile at the National Assembly, State Assembly, local government areas and wards across the state, insisting the realignment by Governor Ademola Adeleke does not in any way affect the party structures.

Oyewumi said, “That we examined the recent development of our party in the state under the leadership of Hon. Sunday Bisi. We passed vote of confidence in the leadership of Hon. Sunday Bisi, the performing State Working Committee, the leadership of the party in all the 30 Local Government and Area office, and the leadership of the party in all the 332 Wards in the state. We say unequivocally that they remain the executives of the party in Osun State.

“That, any individual or group parading themselves as alternative leadership does not have the backing of the duly elected National and State Assembly caucus of the party in Osun State and should not be accorded legitimacy.

“That, the political realignments in the state do not in any way diminish the strength, structure, or grassroots support of the Governor and the PDP in Osun State. The party remains united and firmly established at the National Assembly caucus level, State Assembly level, Executive Council, Local Governments, Wards, and grassroots structures across the State.”

Speaking on the local government crisis, the lawmakers condemned what it termed as illegal occupation of local government secretariats by members of the All Progressives Congress, calling on President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to immediately ordered vacation of the councils by APC members and the police.

“That we call on His Excellency, The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to give a directive to the illegal occupants to vacate immediately to avert crises. PDP as a party and the government in the state are law abiding and that is why we have chosen the path of peace and path of law not to throw the state into crises.

“That we also call on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to ensure that all federal institutions and agencies act strictly within the confines of the Constitution and pay the Local Governments fund directly into the Local Government accounts opened and operated by the constitutionally mandated people (Career officers) and not political office holders.

“That, we discovered that the illegal occupation in the Local Governments is been aided unfortunately by police officers who has turned Local Governments in Osun to Police Stations. We therefore call on the Inspector General of Police to direct his officers to go back to their offices and that the Local Governments should be allowed to be occupied by legal people.

“That we urge the Inspector General of Police to ensure that the Nigeria Police Force remains neutral, professional, and guided solely by the rule of law in handling matters relating to Local Government administration in Osun State.”

The lawmakers lauded Governor Adeleke for his giant strides in infrastructure, health, workers welfare and others.

“That having reviewed the performance of the Governor in infrastructure development, workers’ welfare, healthcare, education, and democratic stability, we unanimously endorse and give our total support to His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for a second term in office in the interest of continuity, stability, and sustained progress for Osun State.”

The meeting had all members of the PDP at National Assembly, members of the state assembly, working committee led by Hon. Sunday Bisi, among other leaders.
