The Osun State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists in separate operations and recovered firearms and other weapons from them.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Osogbo.
According to the statement, operatives of the Anti-Cultism Unit arrested three suspected members of an unlawful society on February 9, 2026, at about 5:30 p.m., following a tip-off along Polytechnic Road, Iree.
The suspects were identified as Ojuowo Oluwatobi, 23; Ajadi Sodiq, 24; and Olalekan Ridwan, 23.
Items recovered from them include one locally made pistol, two live cartridges, and one axe.
“The suspects allegedly confessed to being members of the Buccaneers confraternity, popularly known as ‘Alora’. Investigation is ongoing, and they will be charged to court upon completion of the probe” the police said.
In a related development, detectives from ‘A’ Division, Ile-Ife, arrested another suspect, Damilola Adefisayo, 31, on February 10, 2026, following a petition dated February 2, 2026.
The petitioner had alleged that the suspect stormed his bar and lodge located along Ibadan/Ile-Ife Road, shot sporadically, and threatened his life.
The police said the suspect was apprehended during a coordinated intelligence-led operation and an English Beretta pistol was recovered from him.
“The Command reiterated its zero tolerance for cultism and other criminal activities, assuring residents of its commitment to maintaining law and order across the state”.
