Apc and Adeleke

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration of being guilty of brazenly engaging in the use of abuse of media privilege to misinform and disinform the good people of the state on the true situation of the lingering impasse on the federal allocations statutorily paid to the reinstated APC local government council executives.

The ever loquacious state commissioner for information, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, had, in a radio programme monitored in the state today, which solely and categorically delved into the said federal allocations to the reinstated APC local government council chairmen and councillors, planted some pliable legal practitioners and members of the Peoples Democratic Party/Accord Party, to discredit the continuous administration of the councils by the APC executives.

The situation was so pathetic to the extent that the desperate information commissioner even hijacked the control of the programme from the officially assigned director of the programme whereby Alimi was the one dictating those to be invited for their contributions on the programme.

It was a pity that a supposed information commissioner could go this low in order to misinform the unsuspecting members of the public with a motive to confuse them and curry unmerited favour for the government he is serving.

Alimi’s constant denigration of the persons and offices of the Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi and his counterpart in the Federal Executive Council, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the immediate-past Osun State governor now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, under the guise of speaking for the Adeleke administration, has now become an irritant to the peace-loving people of the state.

We wonder at the justifiable reason for the continuous crying of the information commissioner about Fagbemi and Oyetola when it isn’t the duo who are responsible for the abysmal performance of Alimi’s principal in the office to the visibility of the blind, the audibility of the deaf and the tangibility of the morons in the society.

There’s no amount of propaganda aimed at misinforming the people and distortion of legal facts that can work in the favour of the Adeleke government, which is ingloriously winding up as the whirlwind has blown the anus of his metaphorical fowl which will be the reason for the ouster of the incompetent administration during the forthcoming 8th August, 2026 governorship election in the state.

With the cognate experience of Alimi in the legal profession, it shouldn’t be difficult for him to know that no opinion of any professional association can displace or overrule the spirit and letters of the judgement of any court of law anywhere in the world as the information commissioner has been flaunting the opinion of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) which forever will remain within the realm of an opinion and not binding on any legal issues.

It was a pity that Alimi could descend to the extent of saying that the Supreme Court judgement of the 11th of July, 2024 has not taken effect when it is a universally known principle of law that a judgement begins instantly operational immediately it is delivered.

Why did the ever belligerent Osun State information commissioner forget in his tirade to allude to the fact that there was a Court of Appeal judgement of the 10th February, 2025 which expressly reinstated the APC local government council chairmen and councillors and that his party did not appeal the said judgement? The refusal of Governor Adeleke to comply with the same is a self-inflicted injury.

The tenure elongation suit being bandied by Alimi is only existing in his imagination as the reinstated APC chairmen and councillors’ case that is pending is that of the three-year tenure determination which is within the purview of the court of law hearing it.

It was puerile, inhuman and wicked of Alimi during the radio programme to have politicised the death of some of the chieftains of our party by mocking them over their plight which is a necessary end of all mortals including himself.
