President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday held a high-level meeting with key stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as preparations intensify for the party’s forthcoming convention and congresses.

The closed-door meeting brought together members of the APC’s national leadership, state governors, and top figures from the party’s caucus in the National Assembly, underscoring the importance of unity ahead of the internal political exercise.

Among those present were Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma; Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin; House of Representatives Majority Leader, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere; Chief Whip of the House, Usman Bello Kumo; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; and APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, among others.

Speaking after the meeting, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, described the engagement as brief but productive, saying it focused on harmonising preparations and strengthening cohesion across all levels of government and the party.

According to him, discussions centred on building synergy between the party’s national leadership, state governments, the National Assembly, and the APC structure ahead of the convention and congresses.

“It was a brief meeting to review our preparations and ensure that everyone at national, sub-national and the National Assembly is on the same page,” Yilwatda said. “I believe we achieved our objectives.”

He noted that the APC continues to expand rapidly with the influx of new members, governors and lawmakers, stressing the need for inclusiveness as the party grows.

“The party is expanding every day. We are growing beyond bounds, and we want to make sure that in this process, nobody is left behind,” he added.

Yilwatda also commended President Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a seasoned politician whose guidance remains vital to the party’s strategic direction and continued growth.

“Mr President is highly experienced. His advice was remarkable, and his deep understanding of the political cycle continues to strengthen and expand the party,” he said.
