Popular Anambra-based cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has offered words of encouragement to Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly called Davido, following his loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

In a video message to his congregation that has since gone viral on social media, Odumeje urged the singer to remain focused on his music and not allow the absence of an award to dampen his spirit.

Describing Davido as a talented musician he deeply admires, the cleric said the singer’s impact on music has already placed him far above the need for further validation.

“There is one of our brothers I love so much, a very great musician — Davido. You are already a generational award. You have been awarded many awards,” Odumeje said.

According to him, no trophy can add to what Davido has already achieved through his music and influence.

“There is no award you will receive now that means anything. Your life is an award. Your steps are an award,” he added.

Odumeje also cautioned the music star against allowing public opinion or online criticism to affect his confidence, especially in the wake of the Grammy loss.

“Don’t allow anybody to use it to quench the fire of your joy. Go and get more inspiration to shock the world with new music. Don’t go where you are not accepted,” he advised.

He further encouraged Davido to remain mindful of his stature, noting that the singer has already reached a global level of success.

“You are already on top of the world. Don’t let people demoralise you, reduce your quality or make you weak,” Odumeje said.

Insightlinks reported that South African singer Tyla won the Best African Music Performance award at the 2026 Grammy Awards, defeating Nigerian artistes Davido, Burna Boy and Ayra Starr in the category.
